Today I almost didn't get something in. My Dad was admitted to the hospital with congestive heart failure last night and I was going to just forget this, this week but I thought maybe I need to concentrate on something else. So here I am. I'm looking to checking out some of the other blogs before I go to the hospital this morning.
Well this week's PPF for me is a piece of porcelain. It's china painted on porcelain. Some paint on canvas, some on paper....I do that too but I also paint on porcelain.
China paints come as dry paint pigments that are mixed with oil. Each piece is painted multiple times and then fired in between each firing in the kiln. It takes several firings to reach the desired colors and look. This particular piece took me 4 firings to achieve the look I was going for. Don't you just love this sweet little face?
If you like her, she's available in my Etsy shop. Here's the link:

I'm so sorry to hear about your father and I'm sure you must be beside yourself with worry.
This is a lovely little piece - I am always intrigued at artist who use other surfaces to paint on .
I do hope your father is feeling better and getting the treatment he needs.
I love what you've done on porcelain! You are extremely gifted, and I will return to see more of your work.
All the best for your dad!

A very pretty little girl! My grandmother used to paint china but mostly flowers.
Oh JoAnn I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Blessings to you and him today. Your china plate is absolutely beautiful. That's crazy how many firings you have to go through to get to the finished product, but so well worth it! I am so glad you went ahead and posted this today. Take care.

I'm sorry your father is so ill and I hope he recovers as quickly as possible. I'm glad you got your art time in though, because it can help with the stress. The plate is really beautiful. I've always wondered how it was possible to paint on porcelain; how to get the paint to stick. Now I know a bit more about it. :)
