Hitching A Ride

Another 5x7 oil painting (unframed) available in my Etsy shop.

I love working with those water soluable oils. One thing I never liked about oils was the clean up and the smell of the turp. Now it's great...soap and water. I noticed the new (and larger) AC Moore store is carrying larger tubes of it so I'm thinking that everyone else must like it too.

This picture was inspired by a photograph in a magazine. I just thought it was absolutely adorable and couldn't resist painting it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I call it "Hitching a Ride".

I love this piece of china

It's so cottage and chic...I just love it. It's available in my Etsy shop for $19.99. The china painted porcelain piece flowers are violets & roses with pink accents. I've added 14 karat gold to the edges and scrolls. Just lovely.

Theiving Crow

So this little theiving crow cracks me up. He's about to steal a flower from the flower pot...............I don't know about you but I love to bird watch.

I've got a bird feeder and bird bath in my backyard and I watch them interact with each other. It's worse than watching a soap opera sometimes. There's birds quarling, lovers, new life (baby birds) and sometimes even death! One day I had big drama. A hawk got a hold of another bird, and was eating it on my patio. The whole time I'm watching in amazement from behind the sliding glass door. Now it's not like I live in the country. It's very urban here. House pretty close so I was just amazed at the sight.

Howling at the Moon

What am I in for? Why do I do these things to myself. Every week I volunteer with the high school youth group at church. I dont' have any kids in there but been helping out for years. Some say I'm nuts, maybe I am. So Melissa the youth minister, needed chaperones for the Ocean City trip today. Would the parents of the kids volunteer, heck no. So here I go with her and 12 kids off to the beach. Pray for good weather and patience and a sense of humor for me!

Father's Day and Such.......

...so yesterday was Father's Day. I spent the day with at my parents. My brother, Joe, did all the cooking so I got a break. I had bought worms so me and my 81 yr old Dad could fish off the pier. Didn't catch fish but had a nice talk.

The Old Farmhouse Gathering Team I belong to is Prim (primitive) and Pretties (cottage). I'm mostly on the cottage side but I decided to do some handpainted china mugs primitive style. This one is my absolute favorite. Here's the link

So what have I been up to? Well I booked another cruise for next October to Bermuda. I am taking my son along. Last time we went to Bermuda we took my daughter.

And I'm working on painting some things in primitive style on china. Well I usually go towards the cottage style (pretties) but I thought well no one is painting china with primitive things so I'll give it a whorl...stay tuned...............

Faux Leather on Porcelain Box

Well spring is coming in with avengence...lots of storms, strong winds, rain. It's crazy. Spring means though that there's lots to do around the house. I've decided my fish pond (above ground surrounded by brick) is going to be a raised planter. I'm just so tired of the expense & work in taking care of it. I will post pictures when I get it finished, if the rain ever stops and if I ever get it finished. Meet with a carpet guy today to get new carpet upstairs. We did downstairs last year.

Getting carpet redone is like moving. You have to pack everything up and move it downstairs...oh my....but the end result will be worth it. Our carpet is 23 years old. Time for new carpet!

Today is my son's 27th birthday...I can't believe that kid is almost 30....I am feeling very old today!
